The main lodge area offers an infinity pool overlooking an elephant waterhole. Located a mere 10-minute walk from Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, Reteti House provides guests a front-row seat to the extraordinary conservation work done by the first community-owned and -run elephant sanctuary in Africa.

The Rooms

Reteti House features 1 en-suite family unit, 4 en-suite rooms as well as a brand-new family suite with two rooms connected by a welcoming shared living space. The rooms can all be configured as double or twin rooms – with sufficient space for an extra bed to make a triple.

Sustainability

All of Sarara’s lodges are entirely eco-friendly, off the grid, and rely on solar systems for power. Fresh food is kept in specially designed charcoal ‘bush fridges’ which are soaked with water twice a day and the process of evaporation ensures cellar temperatures. Water is gravity fed by fresh, pure mountain springs – and then passed through a UV filter. No plastic water bottles or straws are used, and dedicated recycling practices are in place.

Because of the Reteti, opportunities are being created, livelihoods are improving,
and wildlife is returning to the region – proving that nature can provide a sustainable economy
for the communities who are integral to this magnificent ecosystem.
