Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara

Forest, escarpment and wildlife framed by the Rift Valley.

Why Lake Manyara?

Wildlife Diversity in the Rift Valley

Lake Manyara National Park is compact but ecologically diverse, stretching from groundwater forest to open floodplains and alkaline lake shore. Backed by the dramatic Rift Valley escarpment, it offers varied scenery within a relatively short drive.

The park is known for tree-climbing lions, large baboon troops and excellent birdlife, particularly when water levels attract flamingos and migratory species. Elephant sightings are frequent, and the forested areas provide a cooler, shaded safari experience.

Manyara works particularly well as part of a northern circuit itinerary, adding diversity to Serengeti and Ngorongoro with different vegetation, shorter drives and a strong scenic element.
