Mara Siana Camp
An intimate, Maasai-owned safari camp offering exclusive access to a wild, uncrowded corner of the Mara.
Mara Siana
Set within the vast and newly formed Mara Ripoi Conservancy on the outer edge of the greater Maasai Mara ecosystem, Mara Siana delivers a refreshingly quiet and authentic safari experience. Overlooking a natural waterhole and framed by open plains, the camp offers front-row wildlife viewing in a landscape shaped by community-led conservation and deep cultural heritage. With a small collection of beautiful safari tents, personalised guiding and meaningful connections to the local Maasai community, Mara Siana combines classic safari simplicity with genuine sense of place, where conservation, culture and wilderness come together seamlessly.
The two family tents are ideal for multi-generational guests, offering two spacious bedrooms and two ensuite bathrooms under canvas. Designed with thatched roofing and natural finishes, each tent blends refined comfort with authentic safari style, featuring luxury linens, generous bathrooms with double basins and walk-in solar-heated showers, and a private deck overlooking the waterhole.
The three king tents feature a generous double bed, high-thread-count linens and a comfortable seating area, all styled with subtle Maasai-inspired accents. Each tent includes a spacious en-suite bathroom with double basins and a large walk-in solar-heated shower, as well as a private deck perfectly positioned for wildlife viewing.
The two twin tents offer the same refined safari comfort, with twin beds, elegant furnishings and ensuite bathrooms complete with double basins and walk-in solar-heated showers. Opening onto a private deck along the treeline, they provide a peaceful and flexible option for friends or older children sharing.
Overlooking the waterhole at the base of a gentle hill, the canvas-and-thatch main area is the social heart of camp. Designed to blend comfort with authenticity, it offers relaxed lounge and dining spaces where guests can gather while watching wildlife move quietly through the landscape.

"Mara Siana, that is a fabulous place, So much wildlife on the conservancy and right there in front of camp!"
Jackson, Fred and Salaash
The story of Mara Siana is rooted in a rare moment of opportunity, recognised instinctively by its founders at exactly the right time. The land that is now the Mara Ripoi Conservancy was originally part of a seperate Conservancy, established in 2011 on the outer edge of the Maasai Mara that later became the Ripoi Conservancy. During the uncertainty of the Covid years, when no investors had stepped forward, Jackson Looseyia identified the extraordinary potential of the landscape and secured a long-term concession. He invited close friends and fellow guides Salaash Morompi and Fred Ronko to join him, united by shared history, trust, and a deep connection to the Mara. Together, they set out to create a camp owned and managed by Maasai custodians of the land and in early 2023, Mara Siana was born.
Jackson Looseiya
Ranked by Conde Nast Traveler among Africa’s top 15 Legendary Guides, Jackson was born in 1967 in the heart of the Maasai Mara and grew up immersed in its wildlife. Trained intensively by his father, a famed hunter turned head ranger, he became one of the first Maasai guides in the Mara and is now a partner in Tangulia Mara Camp. Renowned for his deep knowledge of the ecosystem and love of big cats, particularly leopard, Jackson is also widely recognised for his work on BBC’s Big Cat Live and Big Cat Tales.
Salaash Morompi
Salaash began his career as a waiter before rising through the ranks to become one of the Maasai Mara’s most sought-after guides. Born and raised just a few kilometres from the Mara Conservancies, his passion for wildlife began in childhood and guiding fulfilled a lifelong dream. Known for his warmth, humour and exceptional knowledge, Salaash creates memorable safari experiences while sharing deep insight into both the region’s remarkable wildlife and the rich Maasai culture that forms part of his heritage.
Fred Ronko
Fred is one of Kenya’s most respected long-standing guides and a truly exceptional Safari Fundi, with over 20 years’ experience in the Greater Maasai Mara. Raised in a local village, his passion for wildlife began in childhood and was shaped further after meeting Jackson Looseyia and Ron Beaton of Rekero Camp. Known for his sharp instincts, engaging nature and remarkable ability to read the bush, Fred creates deeply immersive safari experiences. Blending ecological expertise with a profound understanding of Maasai culture, he ensures each safari is both enriching and unforgettable.
Damaris Nailantei Looseyia
Jackson’s eldest daughter, Damaris is the General Manager at Mara Siana and an integral part of her family’s safari legacy. A Finance graduate from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, she combines strong business acumen with a deep-rooted love for the Mara, nurtured from childhood. Founder of Enkilla, a fashion line inspired by Maasai heritage, she supplies uniforms across several Mara camps while supporting local single mothers through community initiatives. Damaris blends enterprise, culture and conservation, carrying her family’s commitment to community forward with purpose.
