Under the Same Tree

For many years, ours was a lone giraffe - elegant, watchful and quietly confident. It stood tall against the horizon, a symbol of perspective and presence in the wild places we call home.

Bush & Beyond has never been about standing alone. Our new logo - a family of giraffe beneath an Acacia tree - reflects something deeper. It honours where we have come from, who we are today, and where we are heading next. The Acacia tree is not new to us. Long before Bush & Beyond was incorporated in 2003, the Acacia was already part of our visual language. It stood in the Bush Homes logo. It sheltered the elephant in the Richard Bonham Safaris emblem. It has always symbolised deep roots, protection and belonging.

Today, that tree stands again. Beneath it, not one giraffe - but a family. Because this is who we are. Bush & Beyond was strengthened in 2010 by the coming together of two long-established safari companies, Richard Bonham Safaris - founded in in 1978 and Bush Homes of East Africa - founded in 1995, united by shared values and a deep respect for the land. We remain family-owned and operated, with second-generation team members now leading the way. Across our portfolio, our properties are multi-generational businesses in their own right - places where children have grown up under the same skies that welcome our guests. At Ol Malo, three generations of one family still live and work on the land together.

This natural evolution, from founder to next generation, is not a corporate strategy. It is simply the passage of time carried with care and protected by knowledge passed down. As generational custodians of the landscapes we operate in, our responsibility stretches beyond the present moment. We depend on the long-term viability of the land, its wildlife and the communities who live alongside it. Many of our partner properties were practicing sustainable tourism long before “ecotourism” became a buzzword in the late 1990s. Conservation, community empowerment and environmental consciousness have never been add-ons. They are foundations.

The lone giraffe represented vision. The family of giraffe represents continuity. The Acacia tree represents roots - deep, resilient and enduring. In an ever-changing safari industry, we have stayed true to ours.

And as we look ahead, our purpose remains unchanged: to arrange life-changing safaris, protect extraordinary wild places, and ensure that both people and wildlife can thrive — not just today, but for generations to come.

Under the same tree. Always looking forward.
