The Tents

Sarara Wilderness is booked on exclusive-use and can accommodate up to six en-suite tented suites – all with flush toilets and outdoor, solar-heated showers, a comprehensive Wellness and Media tent, dining and lounge tent, mobile swimming pool and refreshing cold plunge machines.

Evoking the nostalgic romance of an idyllic adventure in a raw and remote natural setting, Sarara Wilderness is an exclusive-use offering reminiscent of the idyllic mobile camps of yesteryear. Featuring custom-made canvas tents – complete with every modern comfort – the camp is set up with each group’s personal preferences and requirements in mind, as well as the movements of the area’s extraordinary concentration of iconic species and sought-after wildlife.

Sustainability

All of Sarara’s lodges are entirely eco-friendly, off the grid, and rely on solar systems for power. Fresh food is kept in specially designed charcoal ‘bush fridges’ which are soaked with water twice a day and the process of evaporation ensures cellar temperatures. Water is gravity fed by fresh, pure mountain springs – and then passed through a UV filter. No plastic water bottles or straws are used, and dedicated recycling practices are in place.

My husband and I stayed at the Sarara Treehouses for two nights during our honeymoon. This was definitely a highlight of our trip! The camp is run by an awesome couple who immediately made us feel at home. Our guides were members of the surrounding Samburu tribe. We loved learning about the Samburu people and their way of life. Highlights included visiting a Samburu village, walking to visit the Singing Wells, and beading with some women from the village. The service at the camp was excellent. We hope to be back some day!
