The Rooms

Bathed in tranquillity, 8 spacious and immaculately appointed tents are raised in beautiful separate settings, allowing for magnificent sightings of an array of wildlife on the forest floor, with monkeys and birds chattering in the canopy above. Each en-suite tent features an outdoor solar-heated shower with spectacular mountain and forest views.

Family units are available – and consist of two tents set close together (not interconnected). One tent is a double, and one is a twin (slightly smaller). Both are en-suite rooms, with outside showers that are enclosed. The family units are ideal for families with children aged 8 or older.

Sustainability

All of Sarara’s lodges are entirely eco-friendly, off the grid, and rely on solar systems for power. Fresh food is kept in specially designed charcoal ‘bush fridges’ which are soaked with water twice a day and the process of evaporation ensures cellar temperatures. Water is gravity fed by fresh, pure mountain springs – and then passed through a UV filter. No plastic water bottles or straws are used, and dedicated recycling practices are in place.

My husband and I stayed at the Sarara Treehouses for two nights during our honeymoon. This was definitely a highlight of our trip! The camp is run by an awesome couple who immediately made us feel at home. Our guides were members of the surrounding Samburu tribe. We loved learning about the Samburu people and their way of life. Highlights included visiting a Samburu village, walking to visit the Singing Wells, and beading with some women from the village. The service at the camp was excellent. We hope to be back some day!
