Accommodation

The House in the Wild has a lounge area with a cosy fireplace, an atmospheric dining room and a verandah that looks across the expansive lawn out to the edge of the Mara River and beyond to the Kileleoni Hill.  The interiors are a stylish mix of brass lanterns, large African baskets, antique Swahili chests and tables made from reclaimed fence posts.

Lunch is often served under a shady tree on the banks of the Mara River, or overlooking the swimming pool.  There is plenty of space to relax on the lawn, on a sun lounger by the pool or to read a book on the Lamu beds in the gazebo.  The lawn is the perfect place for those wanting a game of croquet, badminton or boules, or perhaps a game of table tennis.  There are swinging beds on the river bank, the ideal place to relax after lunch and watch the hippo wallowing nearby.

The Cottages

House in the Wild has seven separate cottages. Each cottage has been uniquely built and offers the warmth and rustic charm of a family lodge, with all the home comforts you could ask for.

- The River Cottage

Is a double ensuite cottage with a small sitting area that overlooks the river.

- The Original Cottage

This cottage has a large verandah with one double and one twin room both ensuite with an outside star shower.

- Warburgia Cottage

Is a double ensuite cottage newly refurbished with a loft upstairs that has a chill out area with 2 day beds that is perfect for 2 children (under 15years but not below 6years). It has a large bath overlooking the river. The cottage is nestled under a Warburgia tree that gave the cottage its name.

- Marula & Kisaru Cottages

These two family cottages each have two large ensuite rooms, (one double and one twin) with own private lawn, verandah and sitting area.

Hippo Cottage

This cottage is further upstream from River cottage. It is a large bedroom that can be configured to a double or a twin, with a big verandah, a bathroom with a shower and bath overlooking the river with a private lawn and sitting area leading down to the river. Extra beds can be added for guests travelling with children.

Olerai Cottage

This cottage is closer to the main area and is similar in design to the Hippo Cottage, double or a twin with a big verandah, a bathroom with a beautiful brass bath overlooking the river, private lawn and a majlis style sitting area leading down to the river.
